Busch Gardens Africa
This theme park is sitting on 335 acres of land and is a 19th century African themed park. It first opened on March 31st of 1959 and admission was free. Inside the park is the Tampa Anheuser-Busch brewery and through the brewery visitors can get two free cups of beer. They first began charging admission when the entertainment became more and more complex and as more rides were built. The theme park includes many rides, shows, animals, and a bird garden. There is so much to do at this park there will never be a dull moment.
Tampa also has many other attractions such as the Florida Aquarium, Gasparilla Pirate Festival which is known as Tampa's Mardi Gras, the Lowry Park Zoo, and much more.
The Florida Aquarium
This aquarium holds over 20,000 aquatic plants and animals and is about 250,000 square feet. The animals don't only come from Florida but also all over the world. This aquarium first opened in March of 1995 and was a privately funded company until 1999 when the city of Tampa took the responsibility over. It has animals in fresh water and saltwater exhibits. Some of the exhibits that are included in the aquarium are a large simulated swamp/ river area that is under a tall glass atrium, a simulated beach, and a coral reef that is in a 500,000 gallon tank.
The Lowry Park Zoo
This Zoo was voted the number one family friendly zoo in the US according to the Child Magazine. It is also recognized for the Florida wildlife conservation and biodiversity by the State of Florida. The zoo has many exhibits and many different animals from all different species. Some of the exhibits are Lorikeet feeding, stingray feeding, camel rides, an interactive discovery center, and much more. Some of the animals that are kept at the zoo are Alligators, Flamingos, Florida Panther, River Otter, and many more. This zoo is great for all ages and is a great learning experience as well for the whole family.
